A Cafe Racer motorcycle is a customized motorcycle based on an existing model or one that has been specifically built from scratch to mirror the style and feel. The goal is to make the bike more lightweight, stripping the bike down to its bare essentials, to give it better handling and a sportier appearance.

Motorcycle trials, also known as observed trials, is a non-speed event on specialized motorcycles. The sport is most popular in the United Kingdom and Spain, though there are participants around the globe. These specialized competition bikes are tailor-made for trials events in which motorcycles are maneuvered around natural or man-made obstacles. Extremely lightweight, trials bikes lack seats and feature stiffer suspension than most dirt bikes. Trials competitions require highly skilled riding, and riders are penalized if their feet touch the ground.

A touring motorcycle is a type of motorcycle designed for touring. These monikers (often used disparagingly or jocularly) originally applied to cruisers with full sets of saddlebags or panniers such as Harley-Davidsons; but these terms may now refer to any touring motorcycle. Touring bikes are made for long-distance riding, and include features that rival those of many automobiles, including electronically adjustable suspension, heated grips, intercom systems, backrests, large windscreens, and creature comforts such as satellite radios and navigation systems.

A dirt bike with a modified suspension and street wheels and tires is the perfect recipe for asupermoto. Typically, a supermoto is a standard dirtbike or enduro, but converted to have 17-inch front and rear wheels, to allow use of sport bike tires. Based on race machines that compete on a combination of paved and unpaved surfaces, supermoto bikes possess both off-road characteristics such as deep suspension travel and on-road features such as road tires and bodywork reminiscent of so-called "street fighter" bikes. Supermotos require a unique riding style, which involves sliding the bike and using the rider's boots to leverage balance and traction.

A sportbike, or sports bike, is a motorcycle optimized for speed, acceleration, braking, and cornering on paved roads, typically at the expense of comfort and fuel economy by comparison with other motorcycles. Most sport bikes are intended to be ready for high-performance track duty, as well as street riding. A mobility scooter is a mobility aid equivalent to awheelchair but configured like a motorscooter. It is often referred to as a power-operated vehicle/scooter or electric scooter as well. Power scooters are a relatively new category of motorbike, in which a large motor is incorporated into the chassis of a seemingly innocuous scooter.
